Omeir Bin Youssef Group and ABB Sign MoU to Advance Solar Energy Deployment in Support of UAE Net Zero Goals

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 21 May 2025 – Omeir Bin Youssef Group has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ABB during the Make it in the Emirates exhibition at ADNEC, held under the patronage of ADNOC and the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in the Group’s sustainability journey, partnering with ABB to deliver a solar energy project at ABB’s main office and warehouse facilities in the UAE. This initiative directly supports the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy and aligns with ADNOC’s target to reduce operational carbon intensity by 25% by 2030.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Abdulla Omeir Youssef Almheiri, CEO of Omeir Bin Youssef Group, and Mr. Bjarte Pedersen, IMEA Region President – ABB Energy Industries, in the presence of senior management from both organizations.

Key Impact of the Project:

  • Generation of over 700,000 kWh of renewable energy annually
  • Avoidance of approximately 340 tons of CO₂ emissions each year
  • Up to 34.5% reduction in electricity consumption
